My gaming rig currently has an AMD FX-6350. I've been wanting to upgrade the processor, and I have a budget between £180 - £210 (Including a new motherboard, If needed). I was thinking of getting an FX-9590, along with a Gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 (Which supports 220W Processors). That totals up at about £200.

However, people constantly say that Intel makes better processors. Do they? I have always used AMD in the past, And I haven't done too much research into Intel Processors.

Do you have any Ideas on what I should get?

By the way, I also do 3d modeling, and work on my computer, but gaming is it's primary use.

That I5 is £50 more than the 9590 I've found. Is it honestly worth the extra money compared to the 9590. Honestly? As the 9590 beats it in quite a few benchmarks.

FX 9590 is just OC version of FX 8350,if you want FX 9590 you will need a water cooling unit and a rly good quality PSU and only selected motherboards can run it.Since you do 3d modeling you might consider a Intel Xeon a bit weaker i7 without IGPU.

I've Just bought a new 850W PSU for my computer, so there shouldn't be any problems there. I can sort something out for cooling

This is what Senior Moderator SR-71 Blackbird wrote for FX 9590
You need at least a h100i and 1000w power supply.

Your choices for the 9590:

ASRock 990FX Extreme9
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7
MSI 990FXA-GD80V2

AMD.COM

Warning: This power draw of this CPU is almost twice that of the average CPU. Due to this, AMD recommends using at minimum a 1000W power supply. For cooling, AMD recommends using either either closed loop liquid cooling or full system liquid cooling.

So, would it be better if I bought an AMD FX-8350 or 9370, along with liquid cooling, then overclocked it? Would that work better? If I did, would I still need a new motherboard? My current one is a Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3. My PSU is an Antec HCG-850M by the way.

Yea you will need new motherboard, max cpu for your current mobo would be FX 6300 or any other 95W TDP cpu from amd.Your PSU is one of the best.FX 9370 is just 300 mhz lower then 9590 but they still have same TDP of 200W and need water cooler or high end air cooler and ofc you will need one of the motherboards above.Geting new mobo new amd cpu and cooler will cost you more then going intel route, also there is Intel Xeon who is like weaker i7 with no IGPU but still very good for stuff you do.

I'm starting to think that an AMD FX-9590 isn't the best route to go. I'm thinking either an Intel i5-4690K or an i7-4770K. They are both similar prices. What do you think?

Ok then. I think I'll probably go for the I7 4770K. By the way, do you think a Radeon HD 7990 would be a good match for it? I've seen it sub-£200 so it seems like a good deal.
