New Prorams Installed

I reinstalled AVG for free on my computer about three weeks ago and when I go to START there is a balloon that says "New programs installed." AVG is the only program I installed and it still thinks it's new....... How do I get rid of that annoying balloon????

Click on it.

Right click task bar, properties, start menu tab, customize, Advanced, uncheck 2nd box.

But I have had "New programs installed" before and it would only last a few days. Why did this take on the hang on longer properties?

Sometimes you need to click the bubble, or go into the program and run it and it'll go away.
Or because of the nature of the program, it kept reseting the new programs installed feature.. just for vengence for killing babies in a previous life!

No clue, really. It may have just kept reseting or not storing it in the registry properly.

Another option of why is if there are several components to the program, then you may have to run each one of them before they all go away. Why I turn it off right away whenever I do fresh rebuilds. That, along with the "Welcome screen" so that I get proper use from my three-finger salute.
