Hello.
I recently purchased an unbranded ATX PSU to replace one that was dying. It's rated for the same wattage, (1000w) but otherwise inferior to my old one, as I really don't have the budget to get a 1 for 1 replacement soon.
My issue lies with the 8 pin CPU power connector on the MOBO. I don't have anything on the new PSU that fits perfectly. I have a 4-pin connector, and a 6+2 connector. The 6+2 pin can almost fit on the 8 pin mobo slot, but the extra 2 does not. I believe the 6+2 is for something else and that the 4pin needs an 8-pin adapter, but I would like to ask for confirmation before spending any more money.
I'll eventually get a better replacement, but right now I would like this PSU to run the PC on life support for at least a few months as I have other projects I am working on that need attention.
