Does anyone know a ITX psu that is 6 inches long and 6 inches wide and 3 inches tall? It has to be compatible with the inspiron 660s, like wire compatible and stuff, please be sure with your answer

This is the picture of your PSU and link

Is this correct? It is not upgrade, just to make sure that we are talking about the same thing.

Now I am about to question you! According to your measurements you are looking for regular ATX PSU.

First let me show you Inspiron 660s with measurements

Look at upper left corner picture and measurement - it says there 3.94" wide, are you saying that your actual power supply is wider than the case?! This is exactly what you are saying man!

Now take a look at next picture and tell us which one is your form factor!

Above is not 660 but 545 family, but the idea is there.

So? Which one is yours?

And I am sure with my answer! Not sure about your PC describe it first, S stands for slim, not small.

As of now any standard ATX power supply will fit Inspiron 660 MT,
this is general list to follow http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx

Hi, the pic of the PSU, yes thats mine, and I have the SLIM tower,
So do you know a PSU?

Its too long its 7 inches

I'm in the U.S. and using Dell's website to research power supplies for your Inspiron 660s I get:

"For prices and availability of parts and upgrades for this system, call 1-800-357-3355."

If you're in another country, use Dell's site tailored to your region, but it's a Dell computer so naturally Dell will have the highest likelihood of replacement parts for it. There are plenty of power supplies on Newegg.com that fit within the physical dimensions you have listed, if you have the inclination to do a little bit of your own research, and as for compatibility with your particular system, that's for Dell to tell you. Have a nice day! 🙂

How long is yours? 6 inches? A little longer is ok, there is a space.

His dimensions are incorrect. It cannot be 6 x 6 x 3. You can easily download the instructions from Dell's website for removal of his power supply, and it is secured at the end on the inside by a screw, not just the exposed end. Essentially the power supply needs to meet the Mini ITX/ Flex ATX dimensions, which many do that have been listed, but our OP is being what would appear to be rather obstinate.

Kisianik, your initial post was correct.

Plus, further investigation of his motherboard shows that it has a single 4-conductor 12V lead and a 24-conductor main harness - so should conform perfectly fine to modern supply wiring.

I know that dimensions OP posted were incorrect, that is why I posted picture of the original PSU and pictures of form factors, so that OP could realize what he has!
Dell Community Forum advises TFX PSU in such cases, there is one poster who is working as PC repairer or IT of some kind, he is the one who said that TFX would fit with minor modifications - probably he meant missing screw mounting or something similar.
I will look for those posts. Without having actual real measurements it is very difficult to find the correct part, so -
- MARWUMPUS TAKE A MEASURING TAPE AND MEASURE YOUR PSU AS GOOD AS YOU CAN, preferably using metric system - milimeters so we can compare to the existing current ones.
You want help, then help us, or just take my advisement! Your choice!

Power supplies on Newegg easily come in under the dimensions given, so I wouldn't even bat an eye myself. Heck, I've seen some eMachines that weren't worth fixing for the price it would cost, so I just used standard parts and didn't remount the power supply in the standard fashion. I'm not a fan of the custom nonsense manufacturers pull to protect their resale business. Pretty poor business model if you ask me. Just try looking for a replacement front seat for your car in the junk yard! 🙂

At Dell forums many people asked those questions and never get answers - Dell policy is for people to buy new PCs, spend more money. Upgrading will hurt their business, I am surprise you did not know this. LOL.
I was banned temporarily for voicing out laud that Inspiron 570 can be overclocked, I was ignored many times when I asked simple questions, because I upgraded beyond Dell's recommendations and I openly encouraging others to do so.
Later on, I was accepted there (I have created Inspiron 570 upgrade guide and it was made sticky on the front page http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19490818.aspx), probably because not so many people still have Inspiron 570 models, or the was a policy change, I don't know.

Well, actually, I used to perform Dell, and other brands' in home support, but that's been a few years. I do understand your frustration. Dell was one of the nicer companies to contract for. Frankly, if the OP went to Dell and asked for the replacement power supply, and they still stocked it, I'm sure he would have little trouble buying it, but like everybody else, he wants to save money, which I also understand.

But when you buy a major brand like that, you are buying into their ecosystem. It's unfortunate, but it's not exactly a big secret.

You right, absolutely right. This is his third post, I don't know where the first one is, but this is his second http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1665296/power-supply.html in the middle of that post I asked him why he needs stronger one and he said that he just wanted the stronger one.

Sorry, he mislead a lot of people by now, I guess.

Back to the problem, I do feel that TFX is not going to fit and ITX could be he answer, but without measurements we would not know. Oh well let's wait for another, more cooperative Inspiron 660s owner.
I have notifications setup, so if in the near future you find out the answer please post it here, I will do the same, so we know.
