New psu for older pc

Believe my psu is going bad. Got a new replacement xfx 480 8gb and computer has been having non stop issues over the last month. Once I put the 480 into my newer system, everything runs fine.

Weird is when I put the low profile 1060 3gb version into my old computer it starts up and runs without issue.

Old system is
i7 2600k running at 4.6ghz (hybrid corsair cooler)
16gb ram
xfx 480 8gbg
gs700 corsair psu
nzxt s340 case ful of fans

Temperatures were great. Idle was mid 30s and under load was mid 50-63

So I need a new "future proof" psu. Planning on turning this one into a amd build later this year. Probably one of the ryzen 7s or something and whatever gpu amd comes out with later.

I was looking at a gold rated 750w. Would that be enough or should I go for the 850w? I dont overclock alot besides my cpu.

Almost made the mistake of grabbing the evga bq 850w from bestbuy today but figure I would ask the pros first.

Want to stay around $100ish.

You will be fine with 550w, even for future proofing. I recommend the EVGA G2, G3, Corsair RMX, or Bitfenix Whipser. Here's a great deal going on now:

Why do you think you need a 750W PSU? I'm running a i7 3770K and a 7950/R9 280 on a 450W PSU. The PSU rexper linked is a good one and more than enough for your system. You don't need an 850W PSU for that setup.

Im stopping by microcenter tomorrow to pick up that one.

Think when I sent in my original psu for rma, they sent me a brand new 700w psu by mistake. Been using since.

Happy I asked before buying. Havent shopped for psu in years. Thanks again.
