New RAM black screen

I'm trying to upgrade my RAM from 2x4 to 2x8 GB. I removed the old RAM and installed the new sticks into the same slots as the old but I get a black screen on boot.

I have an I5-6500 processor and MSI MS7998 (Z170A SLI Plus) motherboard. The new RAM I'm trying to install is: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014JESKRW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The website "userbenchmark" shows that this ram is compatible so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Try to clear CMOS first. If it fails, put a single stick in second slot and boot. Power off and put the other stick at forth slot

make sure with the old ram in the mb you update the bios to the newest rev to put the newest cpu and ram code on your mb. then try with one ram stick. on your mb user guild look for the main ram slot and use that one. on your mb there two ram banks...0/1 with an a and b slot. find out what slot is bank0 slot a and put one dimm in and make sure it locked in.

This is kind of embarrassing but the problem was that I didn't fully seat the RAM. My bad guys, such a foolish mistake, but I really do appreciate the suggestions.
