New RAM & CPU or Motherboard, CPU & RAM?

I've been saving money for a while now, and I'm editing videos, gaming and photoshop.
So I've come to the conclusion that I need more RAM and a new CPU.

However, I still only have a motherboard that supports DDR3, the Maximus VI Hero.

So I've been looking at RAM such as 32GB of HyperX Savage DDR3
and for CPU the Intel Core i7-4790K.

However, something got me thinking, is it really worth buying DDR3 now that it's "outdated"?
Should I instead spend 250$ on a new motherboard and get DDR4 and a newer i7 too or just stick with what I already have?

Thanks

I have heard that skylake is better for editing. If you care about upgradeability then you should go with skylake for sure, but if you don't have the money or don't want to spend time researching the i7 4790k is solid choice. Both options will bring pretty much the same results, but going with something newer with better uprgade path is important.
