New RAM freezes on ASUS splash, old RAM is fine.

I have been using a PC for about three years with no problems. It has 4 GB RAM (two sticks, Patriot, PSD34G1600KH, PC3 12800, DDR3 1600).

I want to upgrade to 8 GB RAM, so I bought G.Skill ARES F3-1600C9D-8GAO (2 x 4GB, PC3 12800, DDR3 1600).

When I install them, my PC freezes on the ASUS logo and does not boot to Windows. It does not recognize the USB keyboard or USB mouse, so I cannot enter BIOS. The DRAM LED is "off", but the BOOT DEVICE LED stays "on" and red.

When I reinstall my old RAM, the computer starts normally. It only happens with the new RAM.

I think the motherboard is recognizing the new RAM and the new RAm is properly seated (no DRAM LED), but it hangs on the ASUS splash screen.

make sure you motherboad bios has the newest code on it from asus.

I can use the PC with the old sticks so I can check what bios I currently have and update if needed. Is there anything else I should check while I am in bios, like memory auto settings or anything like that?

as the mb is locking up at post it missing the ram code for the ram. if updating does not fix the issues...try one ram stick if it posts with one stick set the speed and bump up the dram voltage.

I installed the latest bios, as recommended, with no problems. I started my PC up with the old ram to test it with the new bios, no problems. I replaced the old ram with the new sticks and the system hung on the Asus splash again, not registering the keyboard or mouse, same as before.

I tried one stick of the new ram, as recommended, and it went through to the Windows loading screen and then bsod. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
It started fine again with the old ram after that.

I googled some information about that and updated a couple of drivers that I missed. Again, the old ram worked fine, the two new sticks hung on the splash screen, and one new stick gave me bsod. This time it was "stop 0x0000001E" (no driver or device mentioned, just four segments of 0.000...s). I tried getting into bios before the bsod, but my keyboard was not recognized and the command didn't go through.

I can keep using the system with the old ram (I have another PC, I just wanted to give the older one a boost, but it is fine as it is), or I can go into bios using the old sticks and tweak something, or some other solution. Thanks for the advice before.
