Hello all

I know this is something very common when installing new RAM sticks in a PC. I was using 2666 mhz DDR4 (2x 8) RAM sticks in my gaming desktop but recently upgraded to 3200 mhz RAM sticks. Windows 11 task manager and my ASUS BIOS (UEFI) both show that the RAM only runs at 2133 mhz speed, how can I change this so the RAM will just run at the advertised speed of 3200 mhz? I'm not really into overclocking or anything, I just want stock performance and nothing more. Windows and BIOS both recognize 2x 16 GB of RAM so that is all correct.

My PC specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-9700k
Motherboard: ASUS Prime z390-a
Memory: 2x 16 GB DDR4 RAM sticks @3200 mhz (G.Skill Ripjaws)
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Ventus 3X 8G OC

Oh and btw: before purchasing the RAM sticks I checked if they were listed on the supported list of my motherboard and they are supported.

Hey there,

Are you using both the 2666 ram and the 3200mhz ram together? This would cause issues.

Often the default ram speed of 2133, or 2400 will be dialed in when mixing DIMMs from different packs.

Technically, the ram running at rated (3200mhz) is in OC. Setting XMP, then save, reboot, and the ram should run as expected, if you only use the 2 x 8gb 3200mhz kit.
