16gb Ram
1Tb black edition HDD

I have drained my PC of all power including bios battery every time I tried different combos. My pc use to work on 2x4gb ram sticks perfectly fine, recently i have got 2x8gb sticks so i thought I'd try the simple swaparoo and to no surprise it did not work. At the end of swapping ram in and out and trying both RAM sticks in both slots i found that the first slot works fine. I can have 1x8gb stick in there and it boots and runs perfect. If i take that same stick and put in 2nd slot my pc spins up then off then spins up and off. Naturally i thought that it must be the slot then (after an hour of tinkering) so i got my old 4gb sticks out. I can boot in the 2nd slot using 1x4gb stick fine but not a 8gb... the 8gb stick dosent want to work in that slot AT ALL. The mobo can support 16gb RAM and they are both the same. My hair is turning grey at a visual rate.

So 2x4gb still works while 2x8gb wont work? are the 8gbs module are the same/identical? try to update to the latest bios, use m-flash on the bios and choose Bios and ME and select the bios file you put on the flashdrive.

Bios file:https://download.msi.com/bos_exe/mb/7817v1A.zip
download, unzip, put on flash drive, plug on the rear usb port.

Already on latest BIOS, also note that it starts with 1 of the 8Gb sticks in slot 1 just not slot 2.
