[SOLVED] New RAM not working on older setup

Hi, I have an older motherboard and cpu, GA-H61M-S1 Rev 3.0 and Intel Core i5-3570. Currently there is a single stick of 4GB DDR3 1333mhz RAM in one of the slots, when I swap in a new 8GB DDR3 1600mhz stick the system doesn't post. The system still works when I switch back to the 4GB stick. Unfortunately the second RAM slot is faulty so I was hoping to at least get this system up to 8GB. Any idea why the new RAM wouldn't work on this setup? I have tested the new stick in another system and it works just fine there.

I'm using Patriot PSD38G16002

According to pcpartpicker that memory should be compatible. I would try clearing the CMOS before startup with the Patriot memory stick.
