New Ram problems?

I've just installed a new stick of 4gb crucial ram I know have 3 total but I don't think it's worked and games seem to be running slow my motherboard is a Z170 Gaming K3

If your computer is still working, the RAM is fine. Because you are running 3 sticks instead of 2 or 4, it MAY be running the RAM in single channel mode, which is what may be making a noticeable difference.

Yeah...go back to 2 sticks or buy a fourth...

Not in dual channel mode, no.

It's not something you can just switch on or off if your hardware configuration does not support it.

if i was to buy a motherboard what one would you recommend i have an i700k And a 1070 What ram would you recommend
