New Ram ruined my Aspire XC AXC-603G-UW13

I installed a new 8 gigabyte Ramm chip into my Acer aspire, but I did not get it completely into the slot and when I plugged it in there was a siren sound. I unplugged it, reseated the ram but now the computer won't boot or show anything on the monitor. Have I ruined the whole motherboard or if I replaced the 8 GB chip with a new one wouldthat solve the problem?

So you installed the ram while the computer was on?

No. I unplugged it and everything else that was plugged into it. Monitor Ext HD, etc

After I had reassembled the desktop and plugged it back in, I heard the siren-ish sound. I unplugged it immediately and checked my installation and found that the ram was not all the way into the slot.

When you were installing the ram, did you turn off the pc during the installation?
