New ram stick fried computer?

I just recently ordered a new NVidia graphics card, a 512 stick of PC3200 400 DDR sdram and a gigabyte stick with similar specs. (This one here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231046 )

I installed everything in steps. Graphics card worked fine, turned off computer, installed the 512, worked fine, turned it off and tried the gig stick.

The computer didn't boot, but gave one short beep, and then a non-ending continuous one after that. I quickly turned it off, and opened it up. There was a burnt smell, which I can now see is coming from the gig stick. I removed the gigabyte and tried to turn the computer on. It makes all the normal sounds, all the fans work, but nothing shows up on the monitor. It acts like it's getting no signal.

Is there anything I can do to fix it? I really hope it hasn't fried anything.

Tried so far:
- Removing the 512
- Checking cables

You can try resetting the CMOS, sounds bad however. (Should be a clear CMOS jumper on the MB near the 2032 battery, short (close) it for a few seconds with the PSU off/unplugged.)
Also power the PSU off and unplug it for a couple of minutes, let any fail-safe hardware reset.
If your new graphics card requires an extra molex power connector, ensure said power.

I'm not sure if I'm looking at it or not. Ive taken a few pictures to help.

I don't have the knowledge myself on how to short it, if that is whats wrong with it, so I'd probably get some help. The main thing though is that after some one else looked at it, they figured that part of the power supply shorted out, considering the front of it doesn't glow blue any more, and its not getting anything on the monitor. Is it true that it may have broken part of the power supply, and if shorting it doesn't work, to get a new one?

Circled in red what I think is the battery, and what the jumpers may be.

The part the light is shining on is the area where the battery + jumper is (Lower right)

The graphics card doesn't need additional power.

smell ur powersupply, if it smells odd, kinda like idk burnt plastic? then its burnt, and is junk, and then look at your ram slots for any melted plastic, i would also recommend switching to your old video card and ram while doing this, then if the psu doesnt smell and no burnt spots, try running again

ive burned quite a few powersupplies, and a few motherboards cause of various reasons in my day, and your motherboard doesnt seem to be burnt, however the ide cables in the way so i cant get a good look from the pic

the PSU doesnt smell burnt, and I've already tried using the integrated graphics and my old ati card, no luck. No melted plastic either. I tried running again, but the front still isnt glowing, besides from a yellow light thats on for a few seconds during boot.

well do the fans spool when u hit the power button, and does the motherboard make any beeps(depending on what board u got) itll make certain beeps, they mean different things u can usually decode the beeps from the manual, and u didnt say wether or not u tried different ram

Sounds like you either had a faulty stick of memory, or it was badly seated in the socket, or it was the wrong type of memory for your mobo.
Either way it sounds like it has blown itself up by being given the wrong voltage on the wrong pins, which often as not will take other components on the motherboard with it.
Definatley don't leave the blown memory stick plugged in, and if you try a differnet GPU with that motherboard make sure its one you don't mind risking.

Thanks for the help everyone. Really helps out a lot.
It made a beep the first time after I started it, when the ram fried.
It was one quick beep and then a long beep that I didn't hear the end of because I shut the computer off, but it was at least 2-3 seconds long.
None since then.

Thinking about it. the ram stick itself didn't have a clear 'forward' direction. Maybe I put it in backwards, thought I assumed the front of it to be the part with the labels.

Edit: I did happen to get a picture of the way I inserted it before it fried. The side here: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h299/ttpmurphy/IMG_3388.jpg

is what I assumed to be the front of it.
So I installed it with that side facing the way the rest of the sticks were.
