So, I've tried everything, looked everywhere at various possible solutions to this problem, and I can't figure it out. Maybe I just happen to get real unlucky and both my new sticks are defective? Either way, any help would be greatly appreciate!
So... I have my ASROCK x99 Extreme4 motherboard with two 4gb ram sticks installed (picture below). Both sticks are DDR4-2400 (as stated on the stickers). The new ones I ordered and attempted to install with no success are: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231888
Current 2 4gbs ram stick: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00MSOKFJW?tag=tomshardware_forum_ca_vgl-20&th=1
Graphics Card: NVIDEA GeForce 970 GTX
From what I can tell, these ram sticks should work, with or without my current 4GB sticks. However, when I attempted to install them that's when everything went wrong.
Problem: When I took out my two 4GB ram sticks and put the new sticks in, my PC lights up but nothing manages to make it to my monitors, both (One HDMI, other DP) can't find a signal. So, I took them out and put back in my 2 4GB sticks and I computer comes on, says my PC had an unsuccessful boot, then starts up just fine. I have tried putting my 8GB sticks in seperately, same black screen. I've put both sticks in with my 4GB sticks in, same black screen. If you look at my picture, I put both 8gb sticks in the black slots where my 4gb sticks are, nothing worked. I put both my 8GB sticks in the blue slots on the other side while my 4 GB sticks were in... black screen. I've tried putting one 8GB ram stick in while keeping my 2 4gb sticks in... still nothing. Just a black screen, no input. Any suggestions? Questions, as I know my explanation might cause confusion? Anything would be appreciated, thank you.
This is the look of what I am dealing with. And, yes, I took a dust remover canister to the insides and what not to make sure they were clean before installing the sticks. (after this picture, of course.)
