I am new to this but thinking of building a render farm as my home business is taking off, and 4 cores is just enough.

This is what I am thinking of putting together, is there anything else that I have not thought about?

1U 19 Inch chassis £82.50 x 4 330
AMD CPU FX-8150 (8 Cores) £147.50 x 4 590
Asrock motherboard AM3+ £59.95 x 4 240
Hard Drive 500 GB £45 x 4 £180
Heatsink Fan £70 x 4 £280
Corsair XMS3 Kit (2 x 4GB) £34 x 6 £204
DVD Drive £30 £30
Power Supply (Ultra Quiet) £35 x 4 £170

Total for 32 Core Render Farm with 12GB per node of Memory £2024 plus extras £2200!!

Thanks for any help you guys can give. :)

Probably not, but I was looking at a couple of internet pages, and thought for budgeting purposes, to allow a set amount.

maybe you could consider some new ways to let your ati card support 3ds max render.
there are some opencl-based software published to support ati gpu market.
like luxrender, as zackmack said.
Blender's cycle uses opencl for gpu render, too and we all know blender's totally free!
