new rig....can't get into Bios

I just put together a new comp tonight ASUS p5k-c mobo, e6750, palit 8800gt, 2x kingston ddr2 800 1gig, 160 sata WD hd, and my older IDE LG dvd drive that worked fine before. I put evreything together and it makes one beep like normal, I get the "8800 gt 1024mb" up in the corner, then the ASUS P5K splash screen. It very quickly shows the post screen and while I don't get time to read any of it, I don't see any errors there.Then there's usually another screen that says something like ST HD DVD RAM press any key to continue. I press a key and it doesn't do anything, donesn't try to read the XP cd in the drive at all. If I open and close the drive door it reads the cd for a sec and that's it, I tried a dos boot CD as well just to see and that didn't read either. I try restarting tapping or holding del to get into bios to check boot device priority but I can't get in, just goes to to that last press any key screen. Even if i don't press anything there the screen goes black by itself anyways.. help please!

try reseting the motherboard to its default settings and clear the CMOS, maybe that will work.

Usually, the DEL key will get you into the bios, so I would try hitting it as soon as you turn it on. Sometimes F8, but mine are usually the DEL key. Mine goes very quickly too, just gives you the splash screen and tells you what to hit, then takes off. Also, did you clear your CMOS? Winly already suggested that, I second that.

yes! That worked I was able to get into the bios to reset the time and date, and then change boot priority from the HD to the DVD drive...installing Xp again now...Thanks!
