I'm sure some of it is overkill, but I wanted to leave plenty of space for upgrades later on. According to the calculator on iBUYPOWER it's got an $1800 price tag. So, what do you think? Thanks.

I do photo editing pretty often, and will be picking up video editing in the near future. Like I said, some of it is probably overkill. The price difference between 8GB and 16GB was $100 with a free upgrade to the Ripjaws. which would normally be an additional $40. I don't know the difference between them though. Same with the power supply, roughly $100 more. They had a 750 option with a free upgrade to 850 Thermaltake 80 plus bronze which I'm sure would be just fine.

Yeah, I didn't really intend to, but I figured it couldn't hurt. Maybe that's just my low level of knowledge on building computers thinking bigger is better though :b

I usually go with the cheapest ram because the speed doesn't matter a lot unless you have an APU. Thermaltake's PSUs are sooo bad :X

I did read that in the quick reviews I went over about Thermaltake. Which is also sort of another reason I went with Corsair, that's what I have now and I haven't seemed to have any issues with it. But I don't really have experience to base off, so it's not a major deciding factor..or wasn't. But I will steer clear now. The other options were standard, lepa, and azza..which I have never heard of..and with ram, like I said above, I have little knowledge on this exciting stuff. I typically just think bigger is always better, I don't stress about a little extra money if the additional unnecessary stuff isn't really going to hurt. Although, if it is going to in some way, please do inform me so I can adjust it.

iBUYPOWER instructed me to have a minimum of 625w during the build process. It updates as you pick the parts. And I read a little bit on power supplies before hand so I wasn't just blindly selecting things (although I guess I still did) and what i understood from it was that you don't really want to go with the exact amount you need and slightly over would be better

Tbh even a 500W seasonic/xfx PSU can power ur pc

There didn't seem to be many options on their list..mostly Corsair, and Thermaltake, then the other ones I haven't heard of. Though there was one 850w XFX. But based on all your info even that would be too much, and not a whole lot different in price. And since I'm still fairly new to this I didn't trust myself to by parts individually, so I was just going to have them build it for me. But overall, the rest of the machine should at least last me a few years and run most games on higher settings, right? Is there any real negative effect to an over sized PSU or too much RAM?

Too much ram isn't bad since you're doing editing but http://www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-discussion-1000004/is-too-much-wattage-a-bad-thing-28776469/ from what I read about too much power for PSU
