New rig which mobo

Hi peeps
long time lurker but its now time to consult the oracles.

building my first rig and this is what I've come up with.

Ive seen this mobo recommended many times but also many negative coments. a mate is also building a new pc and choose the Asus 97 armour sabertooth,I think it was . any help would be greatly apprecited and suggestions in other areas are welcome.
the aim of the pc is to start with a solid foundation to build upon in the coming years.
