Howdy Tom's community. It's been a while since I've logged in but I've used the site to build 3 gaming machines for friends over the past few years. We ALL thank you very much!
I'm seeking advice on a new ROUTER. I've spent literally the past 6 hours educating myself about this AGAIN but alas - here I am asking for guidance as I just can't find the answers I'm looking for on the internet.
I'm a working adult who games very little, but when I do, I of course want the best performance possible! I invested in Star Citizen over 3 years ago and that is the one game I HOPE to spend some quality time playing... I've also invested in the machine to play it, so... I want to be able to be competitive.
My cable internet speed is 75 Mbps, which is truly delivered. Ping is from 7-30ms. Modem = Arris SB6183.
The PC will be wired directly to the router, as it is now.
There are only 2 users of this network in the house, and the only other load on the network will be streaming of movies in 1080 to a laptop or tablet via wi-fi while I game. That's it. No other users.
I don't believe I need MU-MIMO. What about QoS? QoS seems VERY smart, but with such limited demand on the system, I'm just not sure... How important is processor speed in this situation?? Opinions?
While I can spend up to about $150 USD on a router if it will truly make a difference, I'd much rather keep to less then $100 if I can.
