New router limited access

So i bought a new asus n-10 router the other day and i set it up and there was only limited access to internet(which is no access). I had to switch back to my old router to be able to connect to internet. If you guys know anything about this problem, i'd really appreciate your help.

Are you sure your old router wasn't a modem? That you don't keep your modem plugged in, then plug your router in to the modem?

It is also possible that your old router was a modem and router in one.
