Hey guys, I was planning to replace my old router:

With this new router:

And I'm using this modem:

If I could be aware of any problems that might occur, please enlighten me in the comments below. Thanks!

I had issues with a wireless router that was being flaky, so had to replace it...oh, maybe 2 months ago. I did my own research. A simple Google search for "best wireless ac1900 router" will give you several comparison sites...cnet was one, and they rated that Asus router highly. But there are quite a few other sites. I look for multiple reviews and high marks. I also look at *why* they give certain ratings. User ratings at newegg and amazon *can* be useful, but have to be taken with a big grain of salt.

Any comments from individuals here, tend to be worth very little to me, because it's too likely they're based on a sample size of 1. It's a data point, sure, and *might* make me look further, but I'd rather do the due diligence...
There's no reason there should ever be compatibility issues between your modem and your wireless router. You connect them just using a standard ethernet cable.

I see the router's given high marks from CNet, but there are several cheaper ones that get good reviews elsewhere.

Alright, if you can, I'd love a link to a better working router than that one. I am a newbie and have really no clue how to measure router performance. Also, I have no spending cap so if there is one that's 100$ and is 10x better, please send me the link. Thanks for the information!

Truth to tell, I got that one too. In May. Wow, longer ago than I thought. And it's been solid for me with my tablet, and with a new computer...both for installing *all* the updates to Win 8.1 when I first fired it up, and then doing the upgrade to Win 10. Still, I think you're better off spending some time and doing your own homework. But then I have time to invest in that. :)
