Question New RTX 5090 – White VGA LED on B650E-F, No Display (Fans and LED Work)

Hi all,

I recently installed a brand new RTX 5090, but I'm getting no display and my motherboard (ASUS B650E-F) shows a solid white VGA LED. Fans on the GPU spin and the LED lights up, but no signal is sent to the monitor.

Here’s my full system spec:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9830X (983D)
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5090 AORUS MASTER
Motherboard: ASUS B650E-F (BIOS is up to date)
PSU: SuperFlower SF-1000F14XG LEADEX VII GOLD ATX 3.1 (1000W)
RAM: KLEVV DDR5-6000 CL30 32GB
---
What I've tried:
Re-seated the GPU over 5 times (heard the PCIe latch click every time)
Ensured 12VHPWR cable is fully inserted and very tight
Cleared CMOS (removed battery) 4 times
BIOS is confirmed latest version
Monitor is connected to the GPU, not motherboard
---
Additional info:
RTX 3080 and iGPU from the 983D both output display just fine on this system
Only the 5090 fails to give any signal and triggers the VGA LED
---
My take:
I’m planning to test the card in a friend’s PC soon, but based on everything above, it really seems like a faulty card (likely DOA). Before I move forward with RMA, I’d appreciate any input or ideas—maybe something I’ve overlooked?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Motherboard: ASUS B650E-F (BIOS is up to date)
For the sake of relevance, please state the BIOS version for your motherboard.

Try and test the card in a system that has more than 1KW of power at the entire system's disposal.

maybe something I’ve overlooked?
If you're using the adapter to power the GPU, try and use another harness.

Thanks again for the extra tip!
I’m currently using the native 12VHPWR cable from my ATX3.1, not the adapter—but I’ll try a different harness just in case.

BIOS version is 3222 (dated 2025/03/07), which is the latest for the ASUS B650E-F.

I'll test the card in a friend’s system with a solid PSU and post back with the result.

Update:
Turns out the GPU is totally fine — it was my mistake.
I didn’t seat the card or the power connector firmly enough.
Once I reinstalled it with proper pressure, everything worked perfectly.
Really appreciate all the suggestions and help. Thanks again!
