I recently built a new gaming rig. Been playing Division 2 and Anthem on it, but those games constantly crash. I am also getting some repair messages and BSODs. I ran memtest86 - 8 passes with 0 errors. Updated BIOS and chipset, all drivers from mobo manufacturer, Geforce drivers. Ran one stick of 8gb ddr4 3200 in slot 2 and didn't get a freeze in Anthem for more than 30 min of gameplay, or BSOD that I can remember. Popped the other one in and all hell (BSODs) broke loose. Popped the first one back in and just tried to read minidump files. I'm new to this so I have no clue what I'm looking at or what to do. Could I still have a bad stick of ram even though memtest ran 8 passes and no failures? Could the freezing and BSODs be something else - mobo, psu, cpu, gpu? Any help is greatly appreciated!

1) First, run the SFC scan the system files. How to https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...em-files/bc609315-da1f-4775-812c-695b60477a93

2) Also you said you have problem to run the two sticks together, so if you run the RAM at 3200mhz, may try to down to 3000mhz, or even lower it depends on what MB you had.

3) If you still have the problem, may use other HDD to reinstall the OS, because the Service Control Manager error and volmgr error related to the system files or setting.

  1. What PSU did you have?
  2. Yes, the minidump files is good source for the error(s). But you can go to the window event viewer to check the error too. How to https://www.howtogeek.com/123646/ht...ndows-event-viewer-is-and-how-you-can-use-it/
  3. If you can find any of them, then will help.

Thank you for the reply cin19

  1. It is a Seasonic 650W 80+ Gold SSR-650RM.
  2. Looking here I see a bunch of errors from source DistributedCOM, a couple from BugCheck, several from Service Control Manager (says wcmsvc may not be installed), several from volmgr (crash dump initialization failed). I have no clue what I need to be looking for though.
  3. All help is greatly appreciated.

1. SFC /scannow found corrupt files, but was not able to fix some of them. Running DISM now.

2. So even though my RAM is 3200 from manufacturer, and even though I have to technically OC to get it to 3200, I still may not be able to get 3200 because of my mobo?

3. I am wanting to run my new m.2 NVME (currently using) for the OS. Can I just wipe and reinstall Windows 10 on it?

Again thank you so much for your help!

If your MB is 300-series AM4 MB, you are better to run them at 300mhz or lower, even the RAM is 3200mhz, because the PC will run more stable.

You can reinstall the win10 on it, make sure wipe out the old files. How to clean install win10. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-clean-install-windows-10-a.html

My mobo is a Gigabyte Aorus B450 Gamin Pro Wifi. Will this not run RAM at 3200MHz?

I just completed 3 rounds of sfc /scannow and DISM and it is still finding corrupt files.
