Hey so I got a ryzen 5600x installed into my pc right now but the temperature of it goes high pretty quick, like I was in gtav offline and I got up to 80 degrees celcius within 5-10 minutes of being ingame driving around. I know it's probably because I only have 1 fan installed into my computer right now because I decided to buy a prebuilt pc a long time ago when I was younger. But I was wondering should I consider upgrading the cooler of my cpu first ( im using the stock ryzen5600x one) or upgrade my case and get another fan added (my motherboard only supports system 2 fans). Next to the ryzen i'm using a rtx 3070 OC too.

Ultimately, this is not a quick increase for a CPU, nor would I be overly concerned about 80°C if that is under heavier loads.

The 5600X can run hot, and ultimately can operate up to 95°C (not that I would want it reaching that). Running at 80 degrees under load can be perfectly normal, I would say I would start putting more cooling in place if I was regularly breaching 85°C going on 90°C.

You could upgrade your cooler if you want that bit of extra thermal space, and if you add another case fan, it could depend on if your current one is an exhaust or intake.

It has already reached 90degrees celcius today and that was in lost ark grinding in a dungeon. The singular fan i got is an exhaust (I think). The "putting more cooling in place", do you mean systemfans or an actual cpu cooler with that?

I mean either or both, depends on how your system is set up. It will very likely be an exhaust if it's at the back of the case and very likely be an intake if it's on the front.

If you only have an exhaust then I'd consider adding in a case fan to bring cool air in. Ultimately a CPU cooler works by dissipating heat from the CPU IHS, but you still want cool air being drawn in to actually replace the hot air.

I would likely add another case fan to balance with the one you already have, then re-assess and upgrade the cooler if you're still regularly hitting high temps. Even just replacing the thermal paste on your CPU might help if you haven't done this in some time.

Just remember that your system temperature is also impacted by your ambient environment temperature, if you're in a particularly hot/warm environment then this will increase the peak temperatures your components reach.

I appreciate the quick replies fr, I just saw that I have a front fan too that's taking in air, my computer is like in a little cabinet underneath my desk, it's like this one on the photo

but I always leave the little door open for air and only close it when the computer is off, I placed in the CPU yesterday and it came with thermal paste so i don't think putting anything more on it will fix it, i got a tube though. I'll probably be buying a new cooler in the future, but I don't wanna waste a lot of money on it, can you give me a recommendation for around the price of 40-60 euros

I recommend the Arctic Freezer 34 Duo. I also recommend looking into undervolting the CPU so it runs cooler.

Will check it out ty.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of temps are you seeing with your GPU while gaming or under heavy load? Also, what are the rest of your system specs, motherboard, psu, RAM etc?
My GPU stays at a pretty good temperature between 60-70 degrees celcius, ive got a gigabyte b550m ds3h motherboard, and a 750watt PSU, ram 16gb 3200mhz from corsair
