I recently upgraded my i9 9900K system to 5900x. This is my first AMD build since K6 days so it has been some time! I was used to 30C idle And 55C gaming with the same case/cooler setup on the Intel chip and now seems to run so much hotter!

Case Corsair 750D Airflow with 4 Noctua 140mm fans
Noctua NHD15 cooler with both stock fans, Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste
Asus B550 TUF
Corsair DDR4-3200 C16 Ram
Nvidia 3090 FE
Stock voltages, PBO disabled

Are these temps normal? Did I mess up?
I could bring the temps down by about 5 degrees by adjusting the fan curves more aggressively , but then my computer is definitely louder than when it was running the i9 setup.... If I’ll need to run the fans louder to keep the 5900x cool, would going to a 360 AIO help? Tempted to go back to Intel if that’s the case as prior Corsair AIO leaked all over my prior 1070ti!

Going back to a 9900K from a 5900X would be a mistake :)

Ryzen 5000 runs hotter than the Ryzen 3000 series.

The only thing you have to do is set your fan curve to be quiet under the CPU spikes and be aggressive over the temperature spikes.

What you can do too is to put a NEGATIVE voltage offset of -0.05 to -0.1V on the VCORE in the BIOS. Should drop your temp a bit.
