New scratch set-up

I am in the process of setting up a scratch install of a PC. I want to use a SSD drive just for my OS, and a 1 TB drive for the rest of my files. When I turn on my pc for the first time to install the OS, how do I set up the PC to install to the SSD drive?

When you boot off the Windows DVD/USB, it will ask you where you want to install to. However, it's generally recommended to unplug the other drive while installing Windows, and only plug it in afterwards, as Windows can do some strange stuff like put your bootloader on the wrong drive.
