new Seagate sata drive not showing in bios/disk mgr but Seagate Tools sees it and it passes test

I bought a Seagate 1TB from Newegg a few weeks ago. On boot, it spins but I cannot see it in the BIOS or in disk management. When I run Seagate's diagnostic tools it sees it and it passes the short run test. I have switched sata cables and changed ports but still nothing.

Any other suggestions?

If you are running your sata ports in raid mode then you would not see it in the system bios, you would need to go into the raid bios to see it. If you have raid and an Intel system, you can configure it in iRST.

No, I'm not running RAID. This was simply a case of adding an additional storage drive. Usually I just plug them in and they show up on boot. The only difference to my normal routine is I am now running Windows 10.

It is a Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB, btw.

See if the drive appears in disk management (run diskmgmt.msc). If you see it there you might need to (rt click) intitialize it and/or assign it a drive letter.

As I stated in my initial question it shows up neither in BIOS or disk management. Only Seagate's diagnostic sees it.

Which motherbd do you have?
Which port is the drive attached to?

Nevermind. I did a close inspection of the sata cable and discovered one of the wires was working loose from the plug. I had to pull a good one from another pc and it is showing now.

Need to order some new cables.

Agree, got same problem once, try to buy SATA cable with metal stick on the plug.
