Hello - new poster but have completed two past builds. Need strategy and trend suggestions.

I do not need high end processor or GPU as this system will run 3-4 servers, works as my desktop/workstation and primary gaming rig BUT I don't play any new or high end games. The idea behind this build is when prices drop on the core-i9 14th gen a year or two from now, swap it out. Same with the GPU. Add more RAM later if needed also. Want to keep this for minimum 5 years.

Need lots of memory for Adobe apps leaving 2 dimm slots for more later, decent storage for movies and music (server) and decent access speed plus reliability and good cooling.

Lots of USB desired also plus have analog surround speakers and the ASUS mobo seems to accommodate those.

Will run 1x 4K 32-inch monitor dp, 1x1080p 32-inch monitor hdmi on GPU and one 55-inch TV 1080p hdmi off mobo as 3rd monitor for videos.

Money really isn't a limiting factor but I don't need to put in top performers in every area either. I am getting caught up in the custom case and know it is completely unnecessary but ooh shiny and all that.

Planned build:
Asus TUF GAMING Z790-PRO WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard

Intel Core i5-14600KF 3.5 GHz 14-Core Processor

Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler

Corsair Vengeance RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

Western Digital Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

Western Digital WD_BLACK 10 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive

NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB Video Card

Corsair RM850e (2023) Fully Modular Low-Noise Power Supply (850W) - ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0

Case from Star Trek -- https://mycherrytree.com/collections/star-trek™/products/the-artifact-borg-cube-atx

Any swaps beneficial to this build?

Is the idea of upgrading the CPU later solid logic or will prices stay pretty stable? Same with GPU - those spike in prices pretty fast. Since I don't shop more than once every 4-5 years I don't know price trends or reliability issues.

Thanks

If your plan is to keep this for a minimum of 5 years, I recommend going with AM5, LGA 1700 is EOL and will never get any more CPU options. AM5 is supported for at least another 2 years and will give you more cpu options. It's not impossible that it could last even longer than 5 years honestly. So i went ahead and did an AM5 build using some different parts to get you better performance or save you a bit of money. The Ryzen 5 7600X and 14600KF are pretty equal to one another, they trade places slightly depending on the game but they're constantly within 5%. I replaced the Noctua with that Thermalright cooler as its an excellent cooler, especially for sub 40 dollars, way overkill for the 7600X hah. I subbed your 4060 ti 8gb with an RX 6750 XT 12gb, its cheaper, has similar rasterization performance, and 12GB VRAM instead of 8GB. It does lose out in ray tracing though, so if you really care about ray tracing, the 4060 ti will be faster, but the 6750 XT is a better all around card otherwise. I attached the RTX 4060 TI 16GB review since the 8GB and 16GB perform very similarly, and it has the cards discussed in there. Also since you're mostly playing older games and if youre looking to save a bit of money with a placeholder card for a couple of years, the RX 6600 XT or 7600 are good options, also the vanilla RX 6600 stil puts out some frames.
