New Setup

Hi all

I was hoping someone could offer any advice if needed on the new setup I am
considering

Asus P4C800E Deluxe
Intel P4 2.8Ghz
2xKingmax "Turbo" 512MB 3200 DDR RAM
200GB Maxtor DMax+9 SATA150/7200

I will be getting other bits and bobs such as the CDRW etc but really wanted
some guidance on this layout. The RAM will be a matched pair so I can
utilise the Dual Channel capabilities on the mobo. I opted out of getting
the Prescott 2.8 as I have heard they perform slighty worse than the
standard 2.8 yet run a bucket load hotter. Quite how SATA works I dont know,
I am not even sure how I install it or if I need anything else to use it,
but I have read plenty times it is far superior to standard IDE setup, any
advice on that one?

Cheers in advance for anyonehelp

Sorry, as a continuation

Will a 450W power supply be enough to run this processor and give ample
juice to an nVidia Geforce FX5950?

Cheers

Daniel

the p4c800 is a waste of money unless you plan to use ECC RAM, go with the
p4p800 or other 865pe board.

Hiya

Cheers for the advice. I have done some more reading up and it seems the P4C
would be a bit of a wate, especially with the P4P800 Deluxe having this PAT
enabled, sounds quite funky.

I have decided to include a 200GB Maxtor DMax+9 SATA150/7200 with this
system with hope of buying another one later on and setting up a RAID array.
I have done some reading but ams stioll a bit clueless - just how is SATA
installed? IS it a case of plugging in the IDE cable like normal or is it a
whole new process?

Cheers

Daniel
