I've been looking for a mall case for my next build. I have a corsair carbide 400r from 10 years ago and want smaller and QUIETER! I like the Fractal Design Meshify C Mini with tempered glass and the Be Quiet Pure Base 500DX

Any other suggestions? These are still at the very top of the acceptable range for me as far as height.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you

Trying to minimize the build will depend primarily on what sort of innards you want to have inside the chassis. That being said, small cases will limit you from putting in larger hardware like board restrictions and you might also want to understand that going for an itx chassis will obviously be smaller when compared to an atx chassis.

So, what would you be populating the case with? Budget for your case? Where are you located, preferred site for purchase?

Well it would probably be a microATX build. I have a 1660 ti Ultra that i would probably repurpose for this build. And z490 or similar chipset.

cases are usually in a pretty tight range but no more than $150 for sure...

What is the height limit you need to work with?

Nothing wrong with MATX as a motherboard size.
You get 4 expansion slots and are likely to use only one for the graphics card.

I think either of your choices are good.

I had a depth limitation for my case and bought a Silverstone TJ-08E.
It turned out to be a winner.
The front 180mm intake fan(at half speed) sends sufficient air through my Noctua NH-D15s and a GTX1080ti.
Heat is no problem at all.
