Hi guys,

This is the first time I've installed a new SSD so bear with me! Your help would be really appreciated though...

I have installed my new Samsung 850 1TB PRO and gone through the necessary cloning steps using Samsung Data Migration, everything cloned fine and I'm seeing the same amount of data on both my old HDD and new SSD (which would assume everything has been transferred correctly). The problem is, when I restart and change my boot priority in BIOS to the new SSD, I get the 'Reboot and Select proper Boot device' message and have to revert back to the original HDD for Windows to load.

Without really wanting to fork out another £100+ for a new version of Windows 10, what are the steps I've missed to ensure the OS is correctly working on the new SSD?

If they help, my specs are:
Mobo - MSI Z97 Gaming 5
GPU - MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X
CPU - Intel Core i7 4770
PSU - Corsair RM850x 850W ATX 80 PLUS

Thanks in advance,
Max

Solution
Redo your cloning operation, with these steps
------------------------------------
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the cloning tool
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just as like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old HDD and wipe as necessary...
