Hey,

My mate has a new SSD and has a old 1tb 7.2rpm
and wants his OS and few other things to boot first thing on SSD for speed and so forth
we used a program called "macrium reflect" to clone his drive and then proceeded into bios to change boot options to boot from SSD and it didn't work.
It said something about selecting/inserting a boot device and press any key.

When we check "this pc" section on the PC the windows logo is only over the standard 1tb hard drive?

Thanks in advance

Solution
It appears you missed the relevant partitions to actually make it boot.

Assuming the old drive still oots up on its own, without the SSD, redo the whole thing.

Thusly:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is...

nope 🙁
Error message: Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

apparently he can't even access his bios or anything now either?
he can only unplug the SSD and then i boots back up his normal HDD

I feel its not detecting the SSD as a bootable OS thats why it doesnt have the windows logo next to it in the "this PC" section

Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:
