Question New SSD, fresh Win10 install, won't boot (BIOS, MBR)

Just did a fresh install of Win10 22H2 on a new Crucial MX500 1TB SSD. My motherboard (ASRock P55 Extreme4) is old and only supports BIOS/MBR.

The install seemed to go fine, but now it won't boot - just get "Reboot and select proper boot device". The BIOS sees the SSD, and I can boot if I use the USB install drive.

Already tried:

• Rufus with MBR/BIOS settings
• bootrec /fixmbr
• Double checked BIOS settings (AHCI, etc.)

Any ideas?

There are 10 SATA ports, did you plug into one of the first 6 ports?

• - 2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors by Marvell SE9123/9120, support NCQ, AHCI and Hot Plug functions

Your Marvell SE912x ports are faster, unfortunately the are not bootable.

Your MX500 performance probably will be cut in half in some test., but will be a lot faster than HDD,
