[SOLVED] New SSD giving me multiple issues ?

I have an old mobo EVGA P55 SLI Micro E652, and well old pc but it still works fine. Recently I decided to upgrade to a 500 gig sd so it can have windows 10 on it and the two games I play mainly. Now my first step was to unplug all hdds and ssds and put in the new ssd and install windows via usb. Right away I got a 4th Master hard disk error but I went to bios, exited and took me to installation so I didn't pay much attention to the error. When I tried to select the SSD as the install location it gave me further errors such as "this device might not be compatible with your hardware" and "windows cant be installed on this device".

I followed some guides on youtube, some required some cmd stuff, others to change some things in the bios but that didn't work for me. I then loaded my hdd with the new ssd as storage and the first time it let me open the drive like normal, so I tried to clone my HDD to it and that failed, it just would not progress, kept getting stuck at the trimming proccess and when I disabled that, it still just got stuck. It also at times suddenly would say the new ssd cant be located so I had to restart and sometimes it would say its corrupt.

All kinds of issues that I just couldn't handle it and decided to return it and get a new one, but now im worried maybe its my pc and not the ssd, but at the same time I swapped out other hdds and another small ssd i have and those worked fine, but the new ssd continued to give me the same hard disk error upon boot up.

Below is the SSD I bought and have returned and getting shipped a new one tommorow, did I do something wrong ? Did I overlook a simple task to fix it or maybe its just really broken, any thoughts?

The problem is likely an incompatibility between your motherboard and Windows 10. Does your motherboard have the last chipset driver update, version "10.1.1.14" released in February 2016?

Wow after checking my drivers, I have severely outdated ones. FML if thats the issue, I had no clue, I'm going to read up a bit and then install the drivers and see if that helped at all.

Edit: hmm do you recommend any software that updates drivers for you? I'never upgraded manually and I'm scared of <Mod Edit> my pc up lol.

I have never used any software to update drivers, i just go to the support page for my motherboard. Just match the model name written on the motherboard and you should be fine.

Yeah I used driver booster and it updated only to the 2013 update, I restarted and then shut down and put it in the SSD and still got the 4th master hard disk error upon boot up and this time It would not even let me go to bios. I was just stuck at the boot up screen. I then tried to install the drivers manually from the evga website but it said error occured during installation it canceled, this is the only thing I could find in the logs that made sense to me. Jesus christ who knew an ssd could be so much hassle, why does my other 50 gb ssd work no problems but this one is being a bitch.

Are you sure you have the correct drivers for your motherboard? Does the link below match your motherboard?

https://www.evga.com/support/manuals/files/visual/121-LF-E652_Visual_Guide.pdf

Yes sir and Input the info on the evga website to the best of my knowledge and got a link to download the exact drivers you suggested and also the one 2013 ones that the software I used installed. My new ssd replacement should be coming in tonight sooo we will find out I guess if this SSD is broken or if my PC has some really specific <Mod Edit> broken that I've yet to diagnose.

i dled the first option on that list.

Allright its definitely not the SSD, the new one just got here and again I tried to load it up, it said the same error "4th master hard disk error" when I moved slots it give me another error "primary hard drive error" or so. Guess its something with my pc and im stumped at this point.

If you boot with no drives connected can you get into the BIOS? Have you reset the BIOS to default settings?

I've not yet tried to reset BIOS settings but I am able to reach bios as long as the SSD is not plugged in. I'm kinda afraid to return BIOS to default settings because this PC was shipped with incorrect wattage settings and had to have digital storm fix it for me ages ago, I'm sure the warranty has run out by now. I mean I guess I could give it a try, is there a way to create like a profile of the current settings to return to?

So this motherboard is originally from a prebuilt? Prebuilt computers will often have a crippled BIOS which makes it hard to upgrade.

lol...soo uuh I feel dumb and I fixed it. Basically removed all drives thinking this ssd is only compatible with AHCI, turns out Its true, these SSDs do not work with IDE unlike my other SSD. Now Initially I did not know you had to do AHCI so my guess was in the initial attempt I botched the USB during installion by probably accidentally formatting out of confusion since it was on IDE, which then caused obvious issues so when I did switch to AHCI it did not matter since the USB was already screwed. So I reinstalled the installation tool on the USB and removed all drivers and made sure it was AHCI then I plugged in the SSD and voila it worked. I'm typing this right now on my new SSD lol, oh dam im glad thats over, ty all for the help and patience, I doubt anyone else will need this post info but DON'T TRY TO LOAD SK HYNIX SSDS ON IDE, i learned my lesson, oh and don't format the dam usb accidently during installion.
