Have a Toshiba P70A- custom laptop with 1TB HDD in bay1 with Win 8.1 pre-installed from factory. Added a EVO 840 250gb SSD into 2nd bay which is what I want to use as the main drive/boot drive. I plan to change the HDD to just storage. I do not want to use the migration software because I may have "junk" on the HDD.
I have a recovery USB, changed the bios boot order to USB first but it won't boot from it.
How can i do a fresh install of my windows 8.1 onto the SSD? My HDD has several partitions - 1 for photos, 1 for music, 1 unallocated and the rest is the OS, data, documents. I'm stuck. Do I need to format/partition the SSD before I can install? Can anyone tell me, step by step what I need to do. I do have the product key, obtained through a program I found online.
