Question New SSD is recognized only after cold boot

Hi,

I have recently bought a Samsung SSD 870 EVO 1TB as a third drive and plugged it into my pc (specs below).
Initialization and writing files to the disk went fine, then after a reboot (quick restart, not full boot) it is not recognized anymore.
Furthermore, it also damages Steam games, they have to be verified again. So always using full boot is not an option for me.

I have eliminated the following problems:

• Faulty SSD (I RMA'd the first, amazon sent me a new one)
• faulty cable (I've used 3 different cables)
• faulty port (I've used all 4 spare SATA ports
• outdated BIOS (I've flashed the BIOS to the latest version)
• outdated drivers (I've updated every single piece of hardware there is, I've also used Samsung magician to check on the drive when it would show)
• enabled Hot plug in the bios settings

Based on other threads I'm inclined to think there's a setting issue with the Mobo, or my PSU can't handle it.
I am unsure what other settings I could try.
My last resort is buying a new PSU, though I think the 550 watt should be fine.

I would try a secure erase of the problem SSD, your bios probably has that available in its tools section. If that doesn't fix it, I would RMA it.

I already RMA'd the first SSD so I concluded the SSD is not the problem.

Anyhow, I decided to from now on only use a cold boot as a workaround. That is my solution, thanks.
