I cloned my old drive to a new ssd, with windows 7 already installed. I then made the proper registry edits to enable me to turn on ahci. After I reboot, make the changes in bios, my system is getting hung up in the verifying dmi pool data screen. My mobo is a gigabyte EP45-UD3P. Any ideas?

Here's a good cloning guide. Did you follow all the necessary parameters?

All I did in the registry was change msahci from 3 to 0. What do you mean by configuration? Like, what channel the drive is?

The installation was IDE, but I have read multiple guides where you can activate ahci mode by making a simple change in the registry, then turning on achi in the BIOS. I know this has worked for people, but I have not heard of anyone getting stuck at the verifying data screen.

I had the same issue which I was able to solve:

After turning AHCI on, my boot was stuck on "Verifying DMI".
After some tinkering, I found out that the "Order of Hard Drives" in the BIOS changed - Now the external USB drive was first.

After changing the order back and setting the primary Windows HD as the first boot drive, everything started working correctly.
