My new SSD is about to ship in and I have a few questions so I don't screw anything up.

1. am I missing any steps from this: unplug PC and old hard drive, plug in new SSD to install OS
2. after the computer is booted up I can replug my old hard drive in correct?
3. in what order do I reinstall my drivers? Because I know for DELL they have a pretty specific order in which to reinstall. Also I went to the ASUS site to look for motherboard drivers and there was like 20 of them T_T
4. after the drivers are installed I can wipe my old hard drive to reallocate space correct?

*Big NOTE* I'm not transferring the old driver files from my old hard drive because it is corrupted. Which is why I bought the SSD, and because it was part of my new computer and I had the money to get it now.

Solution
1. That's right
2. I would suggest you shut down your computer before plugging in your hard drive after installing your OS to your SSD. So install your OS on your SSD, install drivers, shut down and plug in HDD again.
3. It doesn't matter what order you install them in.
4. Yes, you can.

Good luck!

Thank you for the reply! Also are there any settings I need to change before/during/after step 1? I heard something about ACHI or something like that but IDK where that's at. I currently have an ASUS P8P67EVO. And which drivers do I need to install for the motherboard and any others besides the video card drivers?

The website to the drivers: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67_EVO/HelpDesk_Download/

What SSD are you getting? Depending on the manufacturer, they may ship their drive with software that takes care of optimization for you. Don't worry about changing those settings until you get your drive.

The settings are you need to activate AHCI mode (usually on by default on newer computers) and activate TRIM.

if you don't want to transfer over your old drivers and OS, don't use the data migration software. There's multiple downloads on that page; the top one is the data migration software but there's also Samsung Magician a little further down the page.
