Dear all,

It's time for an upgrade, but I'm not up to date on the best choices and would also like to prevent compatibility issues.
Also it would be nice if I would still be able to upgrade the system in the future (e.g. processor).

I still have a GTX 980 and for now want to save money and keep it a little while longer.

I've come to the following setup now:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor € 169,-
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler € 34,99
MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard € 169,-
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory € 79,90
NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case € 74,90
Seasonic M12II-520 EVO, 520 Watt PSU € 64,90

Any tips, advice or remarks on this setup, that you think I should change?

I appreciate any helpful tips!

Solution
This would be a better way to spend around 600 euro.

From your post, I presume that you already have the seasonic psu. Go ahead and use it.
There are better options if you are buying new.

The processor will come with an adequate cooler.
See how it works for you first.
And, there are better choices than the hyper212.

I will never again build without a ssd for the "C" drive. It makes everything you do much quicker.
240gb is minimum, it will hold the os and a handful of games.

If you can go 500gb you may never need a hard drive.
With ssd prices down, even 1tb is reasonable.

You can defer on the hard drive unless you need to store large files such as video's.
It is easy to add a hard drive later.

So yes, if you are running stock, the cpu will come with a decent cooler. Also, if you want to save some money,, you can go to a b450 board. Make sure it says it's Ryzen 3000 ready, or that it's a MAX board so that it's compatible out fo the box. Those things would allow you to pocket some money or to upgrade power supply for a different one.

Thank you all for the feedback!

To answer some questions:

What country are you buying in? - The Netherlands

Also, what are you doing for storage? - I have a SSD for windows of 125 GB. I use it for Windows only and Windows 10 only uses half of it. I prefer a dedicated HD for windows. I have 3 more regular drives for games, movies and music. This I might change to two SSD's in the future.

From your post, I presume that you already have the seasonic psu. Go ahead and use it. - I haven't bought anything yet.

The processor will come with an adequate cooler. See how it works for you first. - Very good point, been using the stock Intel cooler on my old system and always worked well.

you can go to a b450 board. Make sure it says it's Ryzen 3000 ready, or that it's a MAX board so that it's compatible out fo the box. - Thanks, thats great advice!

Thanks for your time to look into this. I see you also added the B450 MAX board as advised in the previous post :)

Would anyone have any other suggestions in regards to the above suggested setup?
