Hello everyone!
if you can believe it, I'm still rocking my i5 750! and as much as i like him! he need to be retired now! and after more than 6 years I'm gonna build a new PC.
below are the parts that I'm currently thinking of, please tell me if they are okay or you see some issue with them that i missed.
I really appreciate any help you can provide.

things to consider:

  • it is gonna be a 24/7 ON system and most usages are Gaming, some Photoshop and maybe video editing + web browsing and other usual stuffs.
I'm not gonna OC anything at all.
my working resolution currently is 1920X1200 but maybe i upgrade my monitor to 1440p or 4k in the future.
and last but not least, being quiet and as cool as possible is a big plus for me.

List:

  • M.B Asus Z170-Deluxe LGA1151
    CPU intel i7 6700k
    RAM Gskill Trident Z 8GB x 2 3200Mhz
G.C ASUS Strix GTX 980 TI 6GB (i know it's way overkill for my current resolution but i don't want to lower any setting down to get smooth 60fps for the next 3-4 years!)
    Main Drive Samsung 950 Pro NVMe M.2 - 512GB
Media Archive WD Green 6TB 64MB Buffer HDD
PSU Corsair CS750M 80Plus Gold PSU
CPU Cooler ThermalRight HR-22 Passive CPU Cooler (or something similar tor it)

thanks in advance

If you're going to keep this thing on for a while and use a 980ti, I highly suggest going with a better PSU, something like a Seasonic 660XP2 or 760XP2, or something based on the SuperFlower Leadex Gold/Platinum line like the EVGA G2/P2 (don't get GQ,G1, NEX, or P1, those are bad). Corsair's RM units might be a good option too, but try checking jonnyguru and tomshardware reviews first

If you need to take money out of something to fit that level of PSU into your budget, scrap the 950Pro for a 850EVO (hell, you can make it 1TB and still save money) and switch the 6TB green drive to 2x3TB green (about 20% cheaper usually)

I can't ignore the lightning speed of 950 pro, but for sure i consider a better PSU, something like - Corsair RM850x 80Plus Gold
thanks

Do it - I just did pretty much the exact same upgrade from an i5-750 to an i7-6700k + 980 Ti. Best computer decision I've made!

I agree with previous comments about the power supply. Pick one from the tier 1 list here. There's a few corsair units if you're set on the brand (I got the RMi series).

Have you decided what case you are going to buy? Just make sure whatever you do, make sure you buy a case that will fit your GPU.

I'm so glad that you are satisfied with almost exact setup
thanks for the PSU list, the problem here is that my max usage will be below 400W and all good PSU are 1000W and above!
about the case I'm still looking
thank again mate

Tier 1 or 2 are perfectly good.

Having additional wattage available isn't a bad thing, it'll only pull what it needs (so even if you did buy a 1000W PSU, it would only pull the required wattage from the wall!).

That being said, not all "good" PSUs are 1000W+....... the EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W for example, fully modular, Gold, Tier 1. XFX Pro, Gold, Tier 1, 550W. There are quality options at lower wattages than 1000W.

That's nonsense... Seasonic S12II is available down to 330W and the nearly unbeatable platinum line starts at 400W

The 750W unit was poor quality, yes. The 650W unit was mediocre. But the 850W unit you are clearly ignoring. It was fantastic. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=451

This is why we need to stop classifying a whole PSU series. Only the individual models in a series should be judged.

OP doesn't need 850W and even he correctly pegged his target at 750W, hence I ignored the clearly useless (for his use) 850 to minimize confusion (which I DID mention as being decent, in case you skipped reading and went straight to bashing). Not to mention sammy sung said the GQ LINE was good, which even you admit is nonsense.

after reading about upcoming Pascal architecture i decided to get GTX 970 for now and wait for 1070 or 1080 when they came out in second half of 2016

Sounds like a good idea, enjoy! I'd wait until some thorough reviews of whatever GTX 10## cards come out before you buy, just so you can figure out if it's worth the extra dollars.

As Barty said, PSUs from tier 2 are also good - you definitely want to be getting a PSU that's good quality, and consider getting ~500W because it never hurts to have a bit of headroom, especially if you overclock in the future.

Strix series is good (even for 970), and shuts down fans during idle, but so do the EVGA ACX2 and MSI G cards. If your case doesn't have much room on the side, consider the EVGA ones because they tend to fit exactly in PCIe slot sizes rather than stick out a bit.
