New system, best video card?

Mar 4, 2009
Hey guys,

I was wondering if you could give me your feedback on my search for the perfect video card. Currently I am trying to decide between getting a triple core or a phenomx4. After I decide which is best for the money I am looking at getting one of the following 4 cards. Any imput you can give me on which would would be best would really help me out.

Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 Video Card - 2048MB GDDR3 (Link -

Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Video Card - 1024MB DDR5 (Link -

XFX Radeon HD 4870 XXX Edition Video Card - 1024MB GDDR5 (link -

HIS H487QT1GP Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported IceQ 4+ Turbo Video Card (Link -

That HIS is suppose to be a quiet, and powerful card. The 4850x2 is a low price for a duel gpu card. I hear great reviews on the xfx 4870 xxx edtion. And I know the 4890 is the newest of the 4000 series.

I really have no idea what would be my best bet. I have a 22 inch monitor, and will be probably going with a triple core or phenom based system. I would of course want to run crossfire in the future as well.

Thanks for the help guys.

Well, I don't know if this will help your search for the perfect video card. I prefer XFX videicards for the lifetume warranty and for XFX's timely tech support should there be any issues.

Any of the cards above will give you smooth framerates on your 22" monitor and if you saw all three cards working the same game on the same resolution, you won't be able to tell the difference. But if you were going to upgrade your monitor later, to say, a 26", then the 4850X2 or 4890 are better picks.
