Question New system build... CPU 10700k or 3700x

Hello,

I have been out of the computer build system for a few years and am looking to upgrade my system now. Was hoping not to have to touch it for a few years after. I will be using a radeon 5700k Video card. I am torn between the following two builds:

Intel:
Asus Prime z490-a LGA Mobo -199.00 Cdn dollar
i7-10700k CPU - 499.00 Cdn dollar
Deepcool Assassin iii CPU cooler - 99.00 cdn dollar
total =$800

Or

AMD:
Asrock B550 Phantom Mobo - 175 Cdn Dollar
Ryzen 3700x CPU - 399 Cdn dollar
No Cooler required
= $575

Is it worth spending the extra 225 dollars for the intel Setup? I casually game, probably wont play with overclocking too much. Just want something that will run games for the next 5 years or so at decent quality. Id like to stay with 8 cores.

Why would you do that when the 5600X is available?

OH... the 8 cores thing.
I see... nothing I can do there, then.


The 5 years thing is a stretch without some kind of compromise; the gpu is the part that 'ages' the fastest.
