Looking to build my second computer! An exciting time, indeed.

I've had great success with my first build that is now, shockingly, over eight years old. It's served me quite well. I'm now ready for a little more horsepower. :bounce:

Here are some things that I've got picked out. I plan to build this machine probably in the February 2018 time frame.

Thanks!

There shouldn't be any clearance issues with this CPU cooler, right?

Thanks

Don't really plan to overclock. Made it these eight years on my i7 920 and I haven't changed the factory clock. :)

If you won't overclock then try to find a better or the non K version of that CPU, basically the same on base stats. Also, you can save some money and skip the cpu cooler, you won't need it, coffee lake stock coolers are good (unless you want it for aesthetics). Maybe you can sell your current GPU and with those savings, you can get a 1080ti. Just an option

Well, I don’t want to limit myself…just in case I wind up overclocking. :) Might go with the cheaper cooler….it’ll look neat if nothing else! I think I’ll just stick with the 980ti. It’s been my experience that PC parts are like new cars…the used market is just crap. Like the $1800 worth of parts I have picked out….bet I could assemble the PC and the most it would be worth to someone is $1200. lol

I kind of like the hugeness of the case! I currently have the Antec 1200 and have been happy with it. I have it on top of my desk and I like the size of it. The price....yeah, cheaper would be better, but for the size and style I think I’m content with my selection and I won't find much better...

I'm getting excited for a new PC! Now I just have to hurry up and wait for Santa and Uncle Sam to come through for me! Although I'm getting a new PC despite whether or not they come through for me. lol
