I am building a computer for a friend, he has a $1600 budget. He is the type that doesn't like to upgrade very often, and wants mileage out of whatever parts he buys. He says it is for general use, plus games 50/50 split. He is not concerned about having the most epic gaming rig, because he knows that it will only be current for games for 6-12 months.

Here are the parts I've chosen, let me know if there are parts that I should consider instead of the ones I chose.

Case:
Antec 1200

CPU cooler- Undetermined, would love to know of a good one for i7

Probably will use Vista 64 bit, which he is not including in build cost. So far, the wish list from egg says $1430.00

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Your paying way to much for 2000 speeds when you really won’t notice a difference, plus you can just overclock these and 6gb’s is far better then 3.

Total is $1,609.22 when combined with the rest of your list, However, not familiar with 1tb versions of hard drive so I’m not sure if that’s the fastest 1tb WD makes, it may be but I’m not certain, but if it is not, I’m sure someone will comment.

What resolution monitor does your friend have, if its 1680 x 1050 or below then the 285 is overkill but in the future it won't be. Even at 1920 x 1200 resolution this machine will be current for more then 12months, Maybe you have to go from Ultra to High but that is not a big deal.

Since he can afford it I would go for the 285 since it will outlast the 4870 1gb
