Question New system won't boot.

I just put together a pc using older parts. When I push the power button not much happens. Some accent lighting comes on and the system fan runs. Other than that nothing happens. There are 2 led's on the bottom of the motherboard, that display a debugging code. The code they show is 2 6. I cannot find that code. I had a spare power supply that I tried and got the same results.
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard
Intel i7-4790 cpu
8 Gb DDR3 ram
500 watt power supply

Have you tried clearing the CMOS and booting with 1 stick of RAM?

Yes, it boots just fine with 1 stick of ram. I tried both sticks one at a time and they both work fine, one at a time. I also updated the bios to the latest V 1.D0. I also turned on xmp in the bios. Still no joy.

Are you using slots DIMM2 and DIMM4?

Yes, using 2 and 4 DIMM slots. Patriot Viper DDR3, 2x4 Gb, PC3-12800 1600MHz.

Put in one stick, set XMP, raise the voltage to 1.55 volts, power down and install the other stick.

XMP is on. If I raise the voltage, it doesn't boot.
