New System won't boot

I've got an Asus P6t, i7 920 , 6gb corsair (3x2), 730 watt power supply... , a pci e and/or pci video card i'm trying..

Initially I hooked up everything, turned on power , fans turned on , the dvd rw lit up, nothing on the monitor, no beeps

(not 100% sure the speaker even works.... but I think so)

So then I stripped everything except the CPU, Memory, CPU fan, video card , speaker wire, turned it on, no monitor, no beeps

Then I went with : CPU, CPU fan, memory, speaker wire, no beeps

Then I went with: CPU, CPU fan, video card, speaker wire, no monitor, no beeps

Then I went with: CPU, CPU fan, speaker wire, no beeps

I have tried all of these with only 1 of the 4 pin power wires in the one closest to the cpu , and both of the 4 pin power wires.

I've tried the video card with both the vga only and the dvi only

I've tried with all 3 rams, 2, and only 1

Nothing, nada, no monitor, no beeps

Sometimes it will power up, spin the fans and then die , sometimes it doesn't.

I've got the mother board and psu now laying on styrofoam.... not in the case now.

wtf do I try next?

You didn’t say but I assume that you have tried resetting the CMOS ram?
