I'm thinking of this system when i get my money at the end of the month.
but i need some second opinion about it before i go along

amd athlon64 3200+2.2ghz cg core
msi k8neo platinium
corsair 1gig 3200xmspro xl (2*512)
antec sonata case with an extra 12x12 fan same specs as the other installed fan
HIS Excalibur X800 XT IceQ II
seagate barracuda v 120 gb s ata
Iiyama 17" E431S-B
audigy 2
and belkin wireless network card
coolermaster ulta vortex heatsink new product looks awesome.

im not going to overclock it maybe a little by 100. basically i want minimum noise with performance and cooling. and this seems like a good solution. but i have doubt abouts the sonata power supply of it being 380w. ati recommends 350w or more for their x800 videocards and i know a64 draws a lot of juice. will the powersupply be stable?

First of all Athlon64 3200+ defaults at 2.0Ghz, why don't you go for 2 harddrives like 2x80G and strip them on raid0? 17" monitor? The power supply would be good enough.

Unless you're dead set on getting an LCD I'd suggest getting a nice 21" CRT or something similiar, they run for about 400 bucks for a nice one. 17" is strikingly small for today, don't you want to play your games at 1600x1200, I don't think that lcd would do the X800 justice.

You could probably get away with using a good quality 300watt power supply if you wanted too though it wouldn't be a good idea. The 380 watt sonata should be fine. You don't really have a lot of power drawing devices.

There are? I guess the new version has 512k L2 cache? Didn't see that on AMD's roadmap, only saw the 2.4Ghz 3400+.

I saw it on a news site, I think the XP3200+ with 512k cache is 2200MHz, while the one with 1MB cache is 2000MHz, but I'm going from memory now because you could look up the info as easy as I.

yeah i was searching for amd cpus, and now that they floded the market with many amd64's chips in zillion different configuration it gets confusing. i saw there is one cpu market at 3200+ @ 2.2ghz 512 kb on socket 754 labelled CG. and even there is one marked 3400+ @2.4ghz 512 kb again socket 754. first is priced around 350 USD and the latter around 500 USD. but they should be out at end of this month they will launch them to counter intel launches. damn amd for making so many cpu's in different configurations its become so hard to keep track off they made a mess lol. you might be right i actually want the 20 inch iiyama lcd. but its out of my price range at the moment.and crt's are killing my eyes no way im going to turn back to crt's. altough we all agree they are the best for gaming.

the site where i saw the cpus from is an online retail dutch shop where i live in holland, and that site is one of the most reliable shops to date they hardly make any labeling wrong.the site is;

http://www.icomputers.nl/product.asp?S_ID=421

i dont think currently with its sky rocket pricing socket 939 platforms is justified maybe next year its justified, the only advantage of socket 939 is in the long run. but im sure most of us will change their cpu mobo's once a year so no point at the moment i think.
