I dont really have any preferences. I'm using my tv as a monitor, and I have install discs for windows 7, so I only need the PC itself, a keyboard, and a mouse. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

CPU: Intel I5-3570k ~220usd
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 ~130usd
RAM: 8GB of anything really as long as it has good reviews ~80
Harddrive: Seagate 1tb Hard drive at 7200rpm ~70usd
PSU: Anything that is 80+ certified should be fine. Just make sure it supplies enough voltage. Seasonic makes the most reliable PSUs. ~50-80usd
Case: Coolermaster HAF series ~60

After all that your total is about $650. Then you need a graphics card. Generally the more expensive the card, the better. It really depends on the games you want to play.

Just made some changes.

@Richard Why the outdated CPU and.. with 100 dollars on the gpu, you won't get much performance.

I am also looking for a gaming PC around $700-$750.
Do you think is better to go with a very new i3 model, or with an old i5? Moreover, what video card do you suggest me? r9 270, 280, or 280x?
