new to computer gaming

so im looking to build a gaming pc for just games, not recording or any of that, just games. unfortunately i have no idea where to begin and i dont have like $1500 to spend on a build. im just looking for something that i know when i download a game im going to be able to play it because this laptop gaming just isnt cutting it for me. if anybody can help me get started id greatly appreciate it.
